Course Hero is an American education engineering science website company based in Redwood Urban center, California, which operates an online learning platform for students to access form-specific report resources (homework, essays and tests).
Grade Hero gets content for free from its users and charges an annual fee of $83.40, or a monthly fee of $19.95.
The crowdsourced learning platform contains practice problems, report guides, infographics, form notes, stride-by-stride explanations, essays, lab reports, videos, user-submitted questions paired with answers from tutors, and original materials created and uploaded by educators. Users either buy a subscription or upload original documents to receive unlocks that are used to view and download total Course Hero documents.[2]

Course Hero was founded by Andrew Grauer at Cornell University in 2006 for higher students to share lectures, course notes, exams and assignments.[3]
In November 2014, the company raised $xv million in Series A Funding, with investors that included GSV Capital and IDG Capital. Seed investors SV Affections and Maveron also participated.[four] In February 2020, the company raised a further $10 million in Series B Funding, valuing the company at over $1 billion. The Series B round was led by NewView Capital, whose founder and managing partner, Ravi Viswanathan, joined Course Hero'southward lath of directors. Because Course Hero charges premium membership fees for access to its content, the website is an example of contract cheating. Institutions of higher educational activity view contract cheating as a violation of academic integrity and frequently impose serious penalties on students caught engaging in contract cheating. Additionally, many universities are beginning to add uploading content to Form Hero to their listing of academic integrity violations. Class Hero has also been accused of luring students to pay for premium membership to its website with no guarantee that the content they seek exists on the website. They also use scholarships and like giveaways to recruit students to sign up for membership with little to no transparency regarding how many scholarships are rewarded.
